Here are our holiday hours for this season:

Dec 24th: 9am – 1pm
Dec 25th: CLOSED
Dec 26th: 12pm – 3pm
Dec 31st: 9am – 2pm
Jan 1st: 12pm – 3pm

We’ll be open normal hours on all other days. If anything pops up while we are closed, please feel free to call our after hours emergency line: 571-217-2573.

Oraly

Oraly Spatz is our new pharmacy technician. She is a local Del Ray resident and senior at George Mason University. Oraly is a native Spanish speaker from Nicaragua and promises to teach us all Spanish. She hopes to go into cancer research when she graduates next fall.

Gina
Gina Skubick is our new pharmacy intern – here with us for 1 month. Gina currently attends The(!) Ohio State University and will graduate in June 2011. She is intending to work for one of those big chains when she graduates. We are hoping to change her mind.

If you still have your Sunday Post, check out the last page of the PARADE supplement (see article link above). The Neighborhood Pharmacy is listed on the Dispose My Meds site mentioned and we welcome you to come by anytime to safely dispose of your medications.

As we blogged on earlier this year, recent U.S. Geological Survey studies have found that pharmaceuticals have contaminated the water supply of 41 million Americans. Add to this the rising abuse of prescription drugs in teens, and the need for safe medication disposal becomes necessary.

That is why we welcome all in the community to come and talk to our pharmacists about their prescriptions and how to store, use and dispose of them properly. Leftover, unused and expired medications from any pharmacy can be dropped off at the Neighborhood Pharmacy and we’ll dispose of them for free, to be safely incinerated at a waste-to-energy facility.

So the next time you’re cleaning out your medicine cabinets (or if you’ve already done so and didn’t know what to do with the unwanted contents), bring those drugs to the Neighborhood Pharmacy so that together we can help keep our community and environment safe.

As most of you have heard, McNeil has recalled all lots of most of their Children and Infants’ Tylenol, Motrin, Zyrtec and Benadryl products. They are offering reimbursement for these recalled products through either a product coupon or a product refund. All you need to do is fill out your contact information, and then enter the product information (including product name, NDC, lot number and expiration date) on the McNeil website. We linked the website where you can submit your refund requests below.

Once you submit your claim(s), feel free to swing by and drop off your recalled products where we can safely dispose of them!

We also are carrying generic equivalents of the affected medicine, which you can buy to take care of your children in the meantime!
