We’ve been getting a lot of questions about the swine flu, and we want to offer some basic advice on how to prevent catching this contagious virus.
1. Cover your coughs and sneezes - use a tissue or your sleeve to cover your cough or sneeze; terwards throw away the tissue and wash your hands immediately.
2. Wash your hands frequently - use warm water and soap; scrub your hands for 20 seconds; rinse well and dry with a paper towel. Use the paper towel to shut off the faucet and open any doors. If soap and water is not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
3. Keep sick people away from healthy people - if you are sick, STAY HOME! You may also want to avoid crowds during flu season.
4. Clean commonly shared items often - Things to consider cleaning include phones, toys, light switches, remote controls, toilet handles, doorknobs, faucets and handles.
Your Neighborhood Pharmacy has a fully stocked flu survival section to help you get through this season. Come on in and check it out!
We will also be hosting a flu vaccination clinic for the seasonal flu, not the swine flu, in October. More details to come.
Until next time,
Stacey, Barbara, and Allyson
